The first anniversary event of Startup Saturday Kochi sponsored by Asset homes was held on 14^th September, 2013 at Startup village, Kalamassery. The main attractions of the event were:

– Talk by Mr. Mukund Mohan, Director – Microsoft ventures and a seasoned entrepreneur on ‘Promoting entrepreneurship with innovations’  and

– “Headstart network Kochi – Asset Homes” top Startup of the year competition.

In spite of being a rainy day , the venue was filled with over one hundred people from across the state . To everyone’s surprise , Trivandrum outnumbered the host city when it came to attendance and had the most number of attendees.

The event started with a beautiful prayer by Mrs. Nirmala Lilly , General Manager of  Flora airport Hotel and an entrepreneur, who also happened to be the anchor for the event. It was followed by welcome speech by Mr.Remesh Kuruppath, the city lead for HeadStart Kochi and the CEO of Netvarth technologies. He then handed over the stage to Mr. Mukund who instantly took over the crowd’s attention with an interesting question asking session! He then went on to explain the role of hard work in the road to success. He urged the upcoming entrepreneurs not to give up their dreams no matter what ever happens  and that it has been the secret behind his success over the years. He also described the importance of the skill of storytelling in the entrepreneur’s life.

This was followed by a short presentation from Asset Homes, the main sponsor of the event. After this, the top startup of the year competition was held .

The six teams who presented their pitch deck were Infirich, Finahub, Decidequick, Mashiga,  Riafy and Rhl vision.  And in a rather close contest it was Riafy who emerged the Top startup of the year for their android app called “Cookbook” which helps people find all kinds of recipes instantly in their phone in the preferred languages. The second and third position were bagged by Mashinga and Decidequick respectively.

The winners will be felicitated in the next edition of the Startup Saturday. Mr. Pradeep M. P.,Secretary of CochinAngels, delivered the vote of thanks .
